  • Words, Words, Words: Early Staging

Here, you can see my three student actors trying out the opening sequence of "Words, Words, Words" by David Ives in rehearsal for the first time. I gave them very specific instructions to establish not just their status as monkeys but how their characters behaved throughout the show. Note posture, movement, and attitude. The tallest monkey practices for his cross to a tire swing, the stage right monkey furiously types away, and the stage left monkey works on opening a banana.
  • Words, Words, Words in Performance

Here's the finished performance of "Words, Words, Words." Childlike clothing on the monkeys and a wide array of writing and snack props really helped connect the piece with the audience.
